Such an honour to have one of my photographs exhibited in the Travel Photographer Of The Year outdoor exhibition at the Royal Photographic Society. The exhibition will continue until June 4th, 2023 and is located in the space between The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and The Martin Parr Foundation.

My photograph was awarded a Highly Commended and made in Canary Wharf using a Lumix G9 and Leica DG 50-200mm lens. The image was made during a street photography workshop I was teaching last summer. Keep an eye out on my blog for details of the July 2023 workshop, which I will be hosting with my good friend Steve Simon.
This has been made even more special as I also have a second photograph at the Royal Photographic Society, in the Pink Lady Food Photographer Of The Year exhibition, on level 1. This is a career first! Images in two completely different exhibitions, at the same prestigious venue!
Absolutely thrilled to share that the 16th International Color Awards have honoured some of my work. It’s great to have my work judged alongside other photographers’ work from 72 countries, by a jury of international photography curators, editors and other professionals.
I received one win, as an Honorary Mention in the Silhouette category, for one of my street photography pictures. The photograph was made on the King’s Road in London, using my Leica M10-D and lovely 1970s Leica 50mm Summicron.
The still life photographs were made using a Benro geared head and tripod. Lighting was with PixaPro and Godox lights. As always, all photographs were shot in raw. The raw files were then processed in LightRoom Classic on my Mac Pro, using calibrated Eizo CG monitors and finished off in Exposure Software’s X7.

I’m absolutely thrilled to share that the judges of the 2022 Travel Photographer of the Year awards have given my photograph a ‘Highly Commended’ award! A huge thanks to the judging panel and organisers.
The photograph was awarded in the Mark of Mankind category and was made using my Lumix G9 and Leica DG 50-200mm f2.8-4.0 lens; very much a favourite combination of mine.
The raw file was processed in Adobe’s LightRoom Classic and finished in Exposure Software’s X7, on my Apple Mac Pro, using calibrated Eizo CG monitors.

Thrilled to announce that Steve Simon and I will be hosting a photography workshop in London, from July 10th to the16th, 2022. This fully immersive workshop will be focused on street photography and travel photography, with direction and feedback from us both, on a daily basis. A short Zoom chat between Steve and I, discussing our London workshop.
Those who know me, know how deeply I value workshops, the sharing of knowledge, thoughts, concepts and feedback. I’m a firm believer that one never stops learning. Every shoot brings unique circumstances and one learns something new every day. Having started as a passionate photographer in 1986, I turned professional in 1989, primarily as a photojournalist, but also as a commercial photographer, a social photographer and a short film maker. I thoroughly enjoy passing on knowledge and tips and helping those new to the industry, the hobby or a particular aspect of our work as professionals, to pick up new skills and further their career. Anyone who has been on any one of my workshops or presentations will hopefully vouch for my passion and energy for image making.

The best way to really advance our craft, is to have a totally immersive experience. To dedicate the week and really focus the mind and soul, as well as sharpen camera skills. Photographing, exchanging thoughts, sharing of images, not just with Steve and myself, but amongst fellow workshop attendees too, is one of the absolute joys of such a photographic workshop.

We’ve kept the number to a maximum of eight, which means we can cater for a wider cross section of photographers, all the way from enthusiasts who want to learn about street photography and explore London with an inquisitive eye, to advanced photographers and professionals, who really want to focus their skills in street photography. This small group ensures much more personal attention to all attendees and creates a closer knitted group too, resulting in a much more productive experience.

Wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial khachkar (a carved Armenian Stone Cross memorial sculpture) took place after a remembrance service and prayer of intercession, to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of April 24th, 1915, when 1.5 Million Armenians were massacred by the Ottoman Empire. A member of the clergy swings a censer (a type of thurible) of incense. One of my favourite street photographs, is now available as an edition of 25. Even before publicising the edition, 3 prints have already been sold, so at the time of writing, there are 22 prints left. Perhaps the perfect Christmas treat or gift?

The edition is an archival Giclée, gallery quality print. The photograph is printed on A3 (approx 11-3/4” x 16-1/2” or 297mm x 420mm) with a white border, on Hahnemüehle Photo Rag Bright White. 310 gsm on 100% cotton art paper. Signed on the back, name on the front left, edition numbered on the front, along with my embossing on the right side. Each print will also come with a certificate of authenticity.
The price of each print is £400 (which includes VAT) plus shipping. Each print will be shipped in a sturdy tube. As the edition gets sold out, it’s customary for the price to rise near the end of the edition, so it’s wiser to invest earlier on. Please contact me via the Contact page to make arrangements.
For me, the image perfectly encapsulates modern life in the city. The duality of striving for happiness and survival, with far too many working in jobs they don’t love, to make ends meet. That constant struggle.
The image was made as I was running to the car park. As soon as I saw the light from the advertising hoarding, it made me stop. The way it was lighting the rain and the wet pavement caught my eye. It was only a moment later that I read the message. The problem though, was that the digital advertising was a constant slideshow. None of the other adverts were as bright or simple; they were in fact colourful and messy, and as a light source didn’t work as they were much dimmer.
I must have waited for around 20 minutes. Suddenly from the right hand side, a businessman in a raincoat, holding a briefcase, rushed past. It was so quick, I managed to shoot two frames on my Leica. As luck would have it, the timing of the businessman coincided with the “Love Your Job” slide showing on the advertising board.
I love my job 😉
The photograph has been recognised by various awards and curators over the years, including being a runner-up in the Driven Creativity shortlist and exhibited in London, Paris & Berlin. It was a finalist in Travel Photographer Of The Year too. It was exhibited in The Press Photographers’ Year in the National Theatre, as well as the Fleet Street Photo Exhibition in London. It was commended by the judges of the Fotoura International Street Photography Awards as well as used as a double page spread in AP Magazine’s ‘Tribute To Leica’ issue. It also won the Life At Work category of the British Life Photography Awards. It was judged as Professional Photographer of the Year’s winner in the Street Photography category. It also made The Huffington Post Pictures of the Year in 2011.
