The Photography Show will be on this coming Sunday and Monday, September 20th and 21st. So, get some of your favourite snacks and drinks in stock, plump up the cushions on your favourite chair, fire up your computer or smart device and settle in to all things photographic.

Registration is free, so visit The Photography Show and register. There are a host of talks by some very talented friends and colleagues, as well as talks by the various camera and other equipment manufacturers.

21-Sep-2020 16:45– 17:15. Shooting an international campaign

I’m delighted to be presenting on one of the Main Stages this year. My presentation will be on “Shooting an international campaign“, on the Connect stage. I was thrilled to have been commissioned by Panasonic Lumix Japan to shoot the international launch campaign for the yet unannounced Lumix S Pro 24-70mm f2.8 lens. During my talk I’ll be sharing various aspects of how I prepared for and worked on the campaign, sharing my images as well as a behind the scenes video of me shooting one aspect of the project. I’m most thankful that Lumix UK have supported my presentations and will be hosting a live Q&A shortly afterwards.

A full list of Lumix related talks and sessions can be seen on the Lumix Experience website. You will also find a link to the Microsoft Meetings for my Q&A session.

21-Sep-2020 12:20– 12:50. Eyewitness: A global movement to preserve memory through the printed image

https://www.eye-witness.org

I’ll also be one of the photographers from the Eyewitness collective who will be part of a panel talk about the importance of having prints and why we’ve joined together as a global collective of concerned photographers, sharing our thoughts about the physical manifestation of the image and why we feel it’s crucial for us as individuals, as a society and also us as photographers; professional and enthusiast.

Very much looking forward to the Photography Show this year, which is on from March 16th to the 19th at the NEC in Birmingham.

Panasonic Lumix

I’m thrilled to be celebrating my 30th year as a photographer at the show, by sharing some images and thoughts, at my talk about my career, generously, supported by Lumix.

“30 years of photography; photojournalism and beyond”, Behind The Lens Theatre, 19 Mar 2019, 13:00-13:40. Edmond Terakopian shares images and stories from his 30-year career as a photographer, covering photojournalism, commercial photography and his passion for observing daily life with his street photography.

I’m also looking forward to sharing some photographs and thoughts on the Panasonic Lumix G9, which has helped me win several awards over the year, and show my work shot on the newly launched, full-frame, phenomenal S1 and S1R. I’ve had the pleasure to work with the S Series since the beginning of the year, so was one of the first wave of professional photographers from around the world to receive a prototype S1 to work with. To say I’ve been left very impressed would be an understatement!

I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the fabulous Lumix G9, GX9 and range of superb Leica DG lenses. Photo: Edmond Terakopian

  • Monday the 18th of March at 10:30. “Awards and Beyond with the Lumix G9”

They will take place on the Panasonic Lumix stand, D41. I’m happy to say that a few of my images shot on the G9 and S1 will be on the stand as large prints, so I hope you will have the chance to see what these fabulous cameras are capable of.

I shall also be with the Lumix team at the Pro Lounge on:

  • Saturday, March 16th, from 13:00 – 14:00.

So if you’d like to see the Lumix S Series, have a chat or see my work shot on the S1 and S1R, do pop by.

40th International Features Conference

IFC 2014; Leipzig

I was honoured to have been invited to speak at the 40th International Features Conference (IFC) in May, which took place in the delightful town of Leipzig in Germany. I need to point out though that the IFC is about radio; it’s a conference which gets together the best in radio features journalists. My talk? Well, my talk was naturally going to be about photography.

Initially, it seems to most that the concept of having photography spoken about to folks whose medium is radio, simply is a tad bizarre; one is a visual discipline whilst the other is purely about audio. However, photography, audio (and other forms of story telling) are only the end tool. The initial steps in finding a story; dissecting it, checking it out journalistically, planning out how to convey it, are in fact all the same. It’s only the end tool, the tool of delivery which differs.

I was fortunate to be able to attend the conference in full and was rewarded by hearing some absolutely astonishing work, from across the world. After listening to a couple of productions, we would break into our smaller groups and discuss these at length. I must admit to being extremely shy in opening my novice mouth and giving an opinion in this world of radio at first, but soon the shyness went and I found myself deep in conversation and discussion with the best people on the planet in this genre of features work. Absolutely fascinating.

What really astonished me as the week went on was just how vivid a picture radio can paint; how gripping, deep, gentle, forceful, subtle and layered a good piece of radio work can be. Absolutely brilliant. I also had the absolute joy of meeting some fascinating people and making a few friends along the way. You all know who you are and I’d like to thank you for making the conference even more special than it already was.

To those, like me, who haven’t really listened to radio features work, I absolutely recommend listening to this short and extremely powerful piece by Kathy Tu from the USA.

The Photography Show 2014

Hope To See You There!

I’m pleased to say that I’ll be at The Photography Show from March the 1st to the 4th, 2014, at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. I’ll be there in two roles; giving talks at the Olympus stand and also working with my friends at Snapperstuff, showcasing the bags I use and generally chatting about photography.

Olympus

I shall be giving talks at the Olympus stand (G30, Hall 2) in their purpose built seminar room. Places are limited for each talk, and although the talks are free, make sure you stop buy and collect a ticket to reserve a place. I’ll be sharing my experience with the OM-D E-M1 and the new super sharp Olympus 25mm f1.8 lens (along with the Olympus 14-40mm f2.8PRO and 45mm f1.8), on a recent trip to Los Angeles and sharing pictures and video of my reportage during the trip.

I shall be showing a lot of images that’ll be shown for the first time at the show, along with a multimedia video combining photographs and video (all shot on the E-M1) along with audio; this will also be the first time this is shown. It’s going to be a visual delight! Come and see the LA Diary!

I shall be giving my talks on the following days:

Saturday 1st March 2014 at 11am

Monday 3rd March 2014 at 11am

Tuesday 4th March 2014 at 2.45pm

There will be a Q&A ager each talk, so it’ll be a nice opportunity for a chat about the work and the kit.

I shall be at the Snapperstuff stands (H60 and J60, which are opposite each other in Hall 12) the rest of the time, showing and talking about my favourite bags from Think Tank Photo. I’ve been using these bags for well over seven years now and have taken them on assignment all over the world. If you have any questions about the range, or just want to talk photography or gear, pop by.

We’ll also have some great stuff from FLM, Green Clean, Lightech, LumiQuest and Peak Design, so can show you equipment for your tripod, sensor cleaning, lighting and camera strap needs. What’s more, the majority of the team are professional photographers, covering press, social, portrait, wedding, underwater areas of expertise, so you know you’ll be chatting with people who know their stuff; Snapperstuff! Lastly, we’ll have some lovely prints up of our work, so there will some photography to see too.
