Three Wins At The 15th International Color Awards

Absolutely thrilled to receive the good news from Los Angeles that three of my pictures have been judged into the winner’s circle with honourable mentions and that two other images have been nominated, in the 15th International Color Awards, from close to 6800 entered images.

Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; The Art Channel, London; V&A Museum, London; Koller Auctions, Zurich; Preus Museum, Norway; Publicis Groupe, Warsaw; Fila, New York; Chung | Namont Gallery, San Francisco; Kolle Rebbe, Hamburg; Tilton Gallery, New York; Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee; Cornette de Saint Cyr Auctions, Brussels; Podbielski Contemporary, Milan and RedKite NFT, London) and many congratulations to the other winners.

As some would have seen, I’ve started to branch out into creative still life photography, specialising in fountain pen and stationery. It was a thrill to see one of these pictures receive an honourable mention.

Here are the five chosen images. All photographs were made using Lumix cameras, using Leica DG, Olympus and Voigtlander lenses. The images were shot in raw, processed on an Apple Mac Pro with Eizo CG monitors and processed using Adobe LightRoom Classic and finished in Exposure Software’s X7.

Honorable Mention in Portrait | Coal Miner

Honorable Mention in Photojournalism | Memorial Wall For Covid Victims

The wall of hearts grows as a memorial to loved ones taken by coronavirus. Each heart representing every one of the UK’s close to 150,000 victims (to date). The memorial is the idea of the Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice campaign group, which has called for an inquiry into the Government’s handling of the pandemic. Nominee in People | Coal Mine Shift Manager

NOIR Winning Image

The Club of Black and White Photography and NOIR the best of The Club of Black and White Photography curators have very kindly bestowed an award for best image of the month of August to one of my images.

The international group is comprised of 68,977 photographer members, so it’s nice to have an image chosen from such a talented and large group of people.

The image was shot as part of my reportage on the COVID 19 lockdown. It was made on my Panasonic Lumix G9 and an Olympus M.Zuiko 75mm f1.8 lens.

Exhibition

Many congratulations to all the winners; there are some truly beautiful photographs selected by the judges. The winning and commended images will be exhibited in a travelling exhibition, which I hope many of you will be able to see. A book of the selected images from 2018 will also be published (but is not yet listed, so keep an eye out on the website).

Very happy to share that the team at Speak Media have won the Digital Impact Awards Best Corporate Website gold award for their work for Barclays. I’m thrilled to be part of this multi award-winning team and been fortunate to help with his project with shooting various videos for Barclays’ award winning website. It’s been a joy to work with such a talented group of people.

Five Images Nominated By Judges

Happy to share that five of my images were nominated by the judges of the Black and White Spider Awards, in the professional section, across five different categories.

“Spider Awards 2017 proves once again to be a great challenge for the jury to select the best images of the year. Every year this photographic competition increases its quality of content, reputation and prestige” said juror Andrea de Polo, Cultural Heritage Consultant at Fratelli Alinari Photo Archive in Florence.
