Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2023

It’s been an absolutely delightful week, first with the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year awards’ ceremony, which took place at BAFTA on Piccadilly in London on May the 16th. This wonderful evening was followed by the exhibition’s opening at the Royal Photographic Society in Bristol, on May the 20th.

I’m thrilled to share that one of my images made it into the finals and received a Highly Commended award. My thanks to the judging panel, the organising team, the sponsors and partners.

A short scrapbook video of the evening at the wonderful BAFTA on Piccadilly in London, for the awards’ ceremony.

The selected photograph was taken at a cafe, whilst visiting with a close friend. It illustrates how crucial it is to always have a camera to hand (smartphones don’t count in my opinion). When travelling super light, I always have my smallest camera with me; the very capable Lumix LX100m2, which has a great lens, fast aperture and good sensor, carried in a Bellroy Sling. So, ahead of tucking into the cakes and coffees we had bought, I just had to make a series of photographs, my favourite of which is the awarded recipient above.

As always, I shoot raw. The raw file was processed in Lightroom Classic on a Mac Pro, using a calibrated Eizo CG monitor. The monochrome finishing was done in Exposure Software’s X7.

The Exhibition, Royal Photographic Society, Bristol

The second part of this wonderful week saw the opening of the Pink Lady Food Photographer Of The Year exhibition at the Royal Photographic Society in Bristol. The exhibition is set to continue until the 11th of June 2023, Monday to Sunday, 10am – 5pm.

Friday Photowalk Podcast-Part Two

Photography Daily with Neale James

Joyed to share the second part of a great chat with Neale on the new season of the Friday Photowalk.

Wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial khachkar (a carved Armenian Stone Cross memorial sculpture) took place after a remembrance service and prayer of intercession, to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of April 24th, 1915, when 1.5 Million Armenians were massacred by the Ottoman Empire. A member of the clergy swings a censer (a type of thurible) of incense. The usual wreath laying ceremony at The Cenotaph, attended by hundreds, was cancelled this year due to the COVID 19 lockdown and instead took place on church grounds. The new season has a fresh, new approach to podcasting and I hope you can listen throughout. If you’d like to jump straight to my segment, skip forward to 00:54:51 minutes. I’m discussing my passion for photography, street photography, wedding photography, shooting video and a new hobby I started during lockdown which has led to an entirely new genre of photography for me! I would urge you to listen to the entire episode though as it’s very enjoyable and informative.

A tad late on posting this, but much has been happening! You may have already caught the superb set of interviews by Neale James on his Photography Daily Podcast.

If not, catch them on his website. If the search doesn’t come up automatically, search for ‘Edmond’ and you should see a list of all the recordings.

Over the three episodes, we spoke about many topics within photography and photojournalism. Some of the main parts were about governmental censorship, the importance of local newspapers, my inspirations, books and my career as a photographer.

Interviewed By Panasonic Lumix UK

Very nice of Panasonic UK to featue my work on the Lumix Experience website.

Its an interview on my career, workflow and the camera gear which I use. It’s mainly centred around my thought of shooting with the m43 Lumix G9 but does expand on favourite lenses, workflow and other equipment too. Hope you enjoy the piece.
