International Photography Awards (IPA) has announced the winners of One Shot: One World competition.
Edmond Terakopian was Awarded six Honorable Mentions in One Shot: One World Competition – One World – People category.

The Photography Show 2014

Hope To See You There!

I’m pleased to say that I’ll be at The Photography Show from March the 1st to the 4th, 2014, at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. I’ll be there in two roles; giving talks at the Olympus stand and also working with my friends at Snapperstuff, showcasing the bags I use and generally chatting about photography.

I shall be giving talks at the Olympus stand (G30, Hall 2) in their purpose built seminar room. Places are limited for each talk, and although the talks are free, make sure you stop buy and collect a ticket to reserve a place. I’ll be sharing my experience with the OM-D E-M1 and the new super sharp Olympus 25mm f1.8 lens (along with the Olympus 14-40mm f2.8PRO and 45mm f1.8), on a recent trip to Los Angeles and sharing pictures and video of my reportage during the trip.

I shall be showing a lot of images that’ll be shown for the first time at the show, along with a multimedia video combining photographs and video (all shot on the E-M1) along with audio; this will also be the first time this is shown. It’s going to be a visual delight! Come and see the LA Diary!

I shall be at the Snapperstuff stands (H60 and J60, which are opposite each other in Hall 12) the rest of the time, showing and talking about my favourite bags from Think Tank Photo. I’ve been using these bags for well over seven years now and have taken them on assignment all over the world. If you have any questions about the range, or just want to talk photography or gear, pop by.

We’ll also have some great stuff from FLM, Green Clean, Lightech, LumiQuest and Peak Design, so can show you equipment for your tripod, sensor cleaning, lighting and camera strap needs. What’s more, the majority of the team are professional photographers, covering press, social, portrait, wedding, underwater areas of expertise, so you know you’ll be chatting with people who know their stuff; Snapperstuff! Lastly, we’ll have some lovely prints up of our work, so there will some photography to see too.

Well, it’s not every day one gets invited to Hollywood for an awards ceremony; this was something I will definitely cherish. I was somewhat shocked to find that my short film on the Electric Coffee Company was shortlisted in the “Official Selection”: Best mini film or documentary. To then find out that the awards were to be in Hollywood became almost funny; my short film was in a Hollywood award’s ceremony!

Sadly the film didn’t win its section, but in all honesty, I had seen four films (out of ten nominated finalists) in my section which were great, so wasn’t thinking I had a chance of winning. What was special though was realising I was the only solo film maker; the others were all either TV companies or production companies. Not too shabby to be a finalist in this talented group I guess!

For those interested in the technical aspects, the film was entirely shot using a Leica M (Type 240) using a Leica 28mm Summicron ASPH, 35mm Summilux ASPH FLE and 50mm Noctilux ASPH, with some shots using a Leica OUFRO macro adapter. Ambient audio recorded on the internal microphone and interview recorded on a Roland R26 using a Rode lavalier microphone. Edited using FCP X. Partially colour graded in “Color” by Neil Patience ( patience.tv ). Final grading with FCP X and Film Convert. A Manfrotto 561BHDV video monopod was used for all shots apart from the interview, for which a Gitzo video tripod was used. I also used a Lee RF75 filter holder & hood, along with Lee ND filters.

New Look’s Autumn / Winter 2013 Video

It’s fascinating working on a big production; New Look‘s Autumn / Winter 2013 video shoot by Cherryduck was just that. With military precision yet the grace of a ballet, the amazing crew at Cherryduck crafted scene after scene of gorgeous visuals. Having seen some of the rushes on location, I was in awe of the work.

My assignment on this shoot was BTS photographer; Behind The Scenes. In the previous post I showed some of the imagery created for the video but with this post I’d like to share the crew at work, crafting the imagery.

2013: A Year In Pictures

Reviewing The Year

What an interesting year it’s been. A year filled with awards, talks, lectures, workshops, videos and naturally, my main passion, pictures. 2013 brought with it 13 awards for my photography and short film work; 13 for Thirteen – very neat.

I thought it might be fun to go over the year and share my favourite images; some professional commissions and others taken over coffee on my iPhone.

The Journey To Peace And Prosperity

Delighted to have had a second opportunity to collaborate with the talented Carol Allen Storey on a multimedia project commissioned by International Alert. Our first collaboration being Fractured Lives.

This project is on cross-border trading between the Democratic Republic of Congo and its neighbours Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi. They are the centre of this trading in the war-torn Great Lakes region of Africa. This trade between neighbours is a journey to peace and prosperity, being a source of income for more than 45,000 traders and brings stability and economic strength to the region.

The images and video were shot by Carol Allen Storey using a Canon 5D MkII. We then collaborated on editing down the imagery. The chosen photographs were then processed using Aperture, Photoshop, Viveza and Silver Efex Pro. The voice over was then recorded in London using a Rode Lavalier microphone and a Roland R26 audio decoder. Finally, the project was assembled and edited in FCP X.
