Fractured Lives Exhibition

Exhibition by Photojournalist Carol Allen Storey

Fractured Lives is a photographic and multimedia project illustrating the struggles faced by Rwandan citizens rebuilding their lives after the 1994 genocide. The exhibition is at the SW1 Gallery, Cardinal Place (Roof Garden) off Victoria Street in London, and runs until October 12th (check opening times of the gallery before making a trip).

The project was shot by Carol Allen Storey for International Alert and documents the lives of survivors, ex-combatants and ex-prisoners as they build their communities and reconcile.

I’m proud to say that I have been involved in all the image processing for the project, as well as creating a multimedia piece using these powerful photographs, stories told by the subjects, local music and a voice over. You can view this film below.

It’s an exhibition I highly recommend, so don’t miss it.

Tom Stoddart Exhibition

One of photojournalisms most powerful authors, photographer Tom Stoddart is having an extremely powerful, thought provoking, moving, educational, photographically brilliant, emotionally shocking exhibition until September 11th, 2012 in an open air display at More London’s Riverside (by Tower Bridge and City Hall).

Having seen the Perspectives exhibition today, I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone with any interest in the recent world history, the planet, people, photography, photojournalism and life in general. Although very familiar with Tom’s work, there were quite a few images I had never seen before. With 78 of his signature images on display, with subjects as diverse as future Olympians training in China, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the HIV / AIDS pandemic in Africa, hostilities in Iraq, the siege of Sarajevo to the horrific famine in Sudan, it’s an exhibition which should definitely be seen.  Admission is free and the exhibition finishes on September the 11th.

Great news for admirers of the best in photojournalistic work; Tom Stoddart will be having an exhibition in London, called Perspectives. The outdoor exhibition will at More London Riverside (between City Hall and HMS Belfast, by The Thames), from the 25th of July to the 11th of September, 2012.

The exhibition is set to coincide with London hosting the Olympic games. Speaking about the exhibition, Tom says, “The world’s nations are currently joined together by a wonderful sporting festival whose motto is ‘swifter, higher, stronger’. I hope that people visiting the exhibition will leave with a greater determination to understand and help those with little access to clean water, food and medicines who, through no fault of their own, cannot run more swiftly, jump higher or be stronger”.

Perspectives is supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) who are highlighting the repercussions of peoples around the world caught in conflict or emergency zones not having safe access to healthcare.

RNOH Appeal Film Launch

Film Premiere & Exhibition

What an amazing evening. We had the launch of our RNOH appeal film; a project we have been working on since our first meeting in April 2011. The film was premiered at a special event at St James’s Palace by HRH Prince Andrew and HRH Princess Eugenie. I shall be posting a in-depth article on the project with some behind the scenes photographs and technical briefing on techniques and equipment used. Firstly tough, it is my pleasure to show you our film:

Alongside the film was also a photographic exhibition of images I had taken around the hospital, documenting the amazing work that goes on there, despite the conditions of the fabric of the hospital.

I’ll be with the SnapperStuff crew at Focus On Imaging from March 4th to March 7th, Hall 10, Stand L3, NEC, Birmingham. SnapperStuff will have the entire Think Tank Photo range of bags and pouches; by far my favourite and most used bags. As a user of the marque since they came to market in 2005, and also as a former Design Board member, I’ll be on hand to help out with any questions you may have on the range.

Wonderful evening at the Strand Gallery at the opening of the Driven Creativity competition sponsored by G-Tech. Thrilled that my picture, ‘Love Your Job’ was chosen as runner-up in the professional photography category. Several amazing images, including a stunner of a homeless man on the Millennium Bridge and some wonderful films as well. Well worth a look. Check with the gallery on opening times as it’s not on for long.
