The Last Animals
The Slaughter Of Elephants and Rhinos
Over the past two years, the slaughter of African elephants and rhinoceros has skyrocketed to supply international markets with their tusks and horns. Ivory has been dubbed the white gold of jihad and rhino horn now has a higher market value than cocaine and gold. With the expansion of radical Islamist and independent militias in Africa, along with criminal syndicates, the daring groups carrying out these bloody “harvests” are killing these animals at unprecedented rates.
Please help my friend and colleague Kate Brooks with this project, so she can finish her film and raise awareness, in a hope to save these magnificent creatures. Head on over to her Kickstarter page and make your donation, no matter how small.

Huge congratulations to all the winners at the UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards evening at the Honourable Artillery Company in London. Some truly amazing photography was shown, recognised and appreciated.

I’m pleased to say I made the shortlist and was commended in the Nikon Videographer of the Year category for my short documentary film on the Electric Coffee Company in Ealing, west London.
There will be an exhibition of the photographs (sadly not including the short films) at the Museum of London, from today (November 6th) to the 16th of March 2014. For more details please visit their website.

On a technical note, the video was shot using a Leica M (Type 240) and Leica lenses. For more details on the tools used, please see my earlier post on this.

Two pieces of good news in one day (shortlist of PPOTY)! Have just been told that my photograph, A Portrait Of Maya, has made the shortlist of 15 images chosen by public vote in G-Tech’s Driven Creativity Competition 2013.
I’d like to thank everyone who voted for the image. Lets all keep our fingers crossed for the judging, the results of which will be announced on November 15th.
Congratulations on all the other creatives for making the shortlist and for G-Technology Europe for their support of the arts. Big thanks to Maya and again, for everyone who voted. I really appreciate it 🙂

The image was shot on a Leica M (Type 240) with a vintage Leitz 50mm Summilux from 1959. The shot was processed in Aperture and Silver Efex Pro 2.
