Absolutely delighted to announce that my image, Love Your Job, has been voted as the winner of the Street Photography category in the Professional Photographer of the Year 2013 competition. Truly great news. Also very happy for my short film Solitude to have made the top four in the short movie category and for my news image from an anti war demo to have made the top 20 of the news section.

Many congratulations to all the winners and huge thanks to all the judges and Professional Photographer magazine.

The winning image, Love Your Job, was shot on a Leica M9 using a Leica 35mm Summicron ASPH lens. The image was processed using Apple’s Aperture and Nik Software’s Silver Efex Pro 2.

Professional Photographer magazine has produced this wonderful digital edition covering the competition, including all the finalists as well as winners’ work. Look out also for my shortlisted entries into the short movie and news categories.

On a related note to this picture & news, I’d like to share some extremely kind words from the DPreview Forum:

“Wow, just wow!

Sometimes I enter the Leica forum to see street photography, and I keep asking myself if the HCB (Henri Cartier Bresson) style is somehow possible nowadays.

What I mean, is that in the classical HCB work, people would dress differently, the streets were different, and the whole mood of society felt different in almost everything those days.

So I ask myself, in today’s iPhone generation, when everything is disposable and lacks charm, when streets are almost Blade Runner like, when people itself do not evoke thoughts anymore, is there any way to bring back that HCB charming style to today’s street photography?

Your award winning shot just answered: a sound YES.

Your magnificent shot is exactly what I imagine HCB would do today.

The mood, the message, the dynamics, the composition, the elements combined in a perfect storm (no pun intended).

No doubt it’s an award winning shot.

It glows with quality, lots and lots of it.

Thanks for sharing this master piece.”

    • Many thanks for your kind comments and also for the order 🙂 Much appreciated. If you decide one day you’d like a proper Giclêe print, embossed, signed and certified, A3 to A1 in size, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Enjoy your print meanwhile. Thanks again.
